 English Language Institute (ELI) について

  • 1979年に設立されたデラウェア大学・English Language Institute(ELI)は学位取得を希望する学生をはじめ、事業家や英語先生を含む、英語が学びたいすべての人々に最も質の高い集中英語学習プログラムを提供します。ELIを担当している機関であるCEAは1999年に英文学の専門家らによって設立されました。応用言語学で修士または博士学位を持っているELIの教授陣は彼らだけの方法で全世界の学生たちのために、より効率的で楽しい英語教育を実施します。1743年に設立されたデラウェア大学は国内外で認められた質の高い教育研究機関です。デラウェア大学の使命はますますグローバル化されつつある時代を切り開く学生たちを排出させることです。デラウェア大学はデラウェアのニュワクに位置しており、30,000人の市民が生活している静かで安全で親切なタウンです。学生たちは空き時間にアトランティックオーシャンの休養地とペンシルベニアのポコノ山脈で多彩な夏と冬の余暇活動を楽しむことができます。

  • デラウェア大学は1743年に設立された小さなアカデミーからスタートし、現在の活発な研究活動を行っている専門的で発達した機関に至るまで優れた伝統を持っております。デラウェア大学はアメリカ独立宣言に署名した3人の卒業生と米国憲法に署名した一人の卒業生を含めて154,000人に上る卒業生を輩出しており、彼らはすべて、全世界に大きな貢献をしています。副大統領だったJoseph R.Biden Jr.と彼の妻Jillもデラウェア大学を卒業しました。本校は1833年にデラウェア州から特許を受けており、米国内の歴史的な土地研究大学の一つに選定されました。現在、デラウェア・カレッジは土地、海洋、宇宙研究の中心機関です。教育発展機関であるカーネギーファンデーションはデラウェア大学を、米国の大学のうち3%しか入れない質の高い研究活動を実行する研究大学として位置付けました。デラウェア大学は、科学と技術の分野で米国内の上位100校の大学に入る学校です。

プログラムの説明

  • 授業フォーカス, 授業目標、長所 :
    English for Academic Purposes(EAP)授業は、米国内の大学での語学研修のためのランゲージ授業を提供します。この授業は聞き取り能力、流暢性の向上、口述能力、読み取り、文法、書き込み、語彙力の向上のための学習を含んでおります。なお、試験スキルと筆記スキル、学問的な語彙駆使能力、読解と作文能力、講義理解能力、リサーチスキル、形式に合う作文法、リサーチ・ペーパー作成といった学問的なスキルも指導しております。EAPの学生たちは条件を満たした場合、デラウェア大学や姉妹提携を結んだ他の多くの大学に入学申し込みができます。
     
    カリキュラム:
    EAPの授業は短い期間で最大限に英語の実力を向上させたい学生たちのためにデザインされました。１週28時間の授業が行われており、6レベルのクラスに10から14人の学生が入り、18歳以上の学生のみが参加できます。2ヶ月間行われるこのプログラムはより良い英語のコミュニケーションや理解のための聞き取り、スピーキング、書き方に重点をおきます。すべての学生は聞き取り/スピーキングの授業とリーディング/書き方の授業を受けることになります。
    聞き取り/スピーキングの授業は学生たちの流暢性、文法能力、発音や聞き取り能力の向上を中心に進められます。すべての授業は現代的で検証済みの方法で行われ、学生たちが英語で疎通し、問題を解決し、キャンパスでのアメリカ生活に参加できるようにサポートします。(週10時間)
    リーディング/書き方の授業は学生のリーディング、書き方、文法、語彙力、リサーチ能力を向上させます。初級レベルから高級レベルまで興味深いカリキュラムを活用して、学生たちの作文能力と読解能力を向上させる授業です。(週10時間)

  • ELIはデラウェア大学キャンパス内の気品あるマンションに位置しており、複数のビル周囲に形成されております。ELIのビル内には教授陣のオフィスと総務局とともに、自学自習センターとチュータリングセンターが位置しております。すべての講義室にはワイヤレス・インターネットと様々なマルチメディア機器が配置されており、すべてのビルは容易に移動できる距離内にあります。ELI学生たちはデラウェア大学の学生証と学校の電子メールアカウントを与えられます。学生証でデラウェア学校の様々な便宜施設やサービスを利用できます。(インターネットの使用と電子メールチェックと課題ができる30箇所以上の便宜施設、三百万冊以上の本を保有しており、情報検索をサポートする最新の機器が設置されたモリス図書館、すべての施設が完備された三箇所の体育館、二箇所の室内アイスリンク場、屋内と屋外プール、多数のサッカー場、バスケットボール場、テニスコート、コンサート場、2箇所の劇場、様々な美術や文化のイベントが行われるアートセンター、キャンパスのいろんなところに位置する食堂、無料シャトルバス)
