 American English and Culture Program (AECP) について

  • American English and Culture Program(AECP)は英語を第2外国語とする学生達に、1974年から集中プログラムを提供してきており、現在までに115カ国を超える国から来た学生達を教えています。AECPの講師陣と職員は、学生達に英語能力の向上とアメリカの文化生活を支援しており、学校の授業以外にもフィールドワークや様々な郊外活動でアリゾナ州立大学とアメリカでの生活に早く適応できるように援助しています。AECPは、アリゾナ州立大学のテンペ・キャンパスの中心にあり、全国第6位の都市である中規模でフレンドリーな街フェニックスに隣接しています。

 アリゾナ州立大学 について

  • アリゾナ州立大学(ASUやAriaona Stateとも呼ばれる)はアメリカのアリゾナ州の首都であるフェニックスの全米ナショナル・グラント機関で、都市に位置した公立研究大学であり、アメリカの在学生が最も多い公立大学でもあります。1885年にアリゾナ地域にTempe 普通学校として初めて建てられた後、1945年にアリゾナ市議会に渡されました。その後、名前をアリゾナ州立学校に変え、1958年に現在使っているアリゾナ州立大学となりました。1994年に研究1機関に分類されました。その点で、アリゾナ州立大学は最新の主要研究大学(公立や私立)の中の一つということが出来ます。大学のミッションは"新しいアメリカの大学"を目標に、"排斥するよりは包容"を成功の鍵としています。 アリゾナ州立大学は学士、修士、博士号を授与しており、16個の大学が4つのキャンパスに位置しています。一番最初にできたテムピキャンパスとフェニックスの北西に位置した西キャンパス、メサ地域の東側にあるポリテククニクキャンパスそしてダウンタウンフェニックスキャンパスがあります。すべてのキャンパスが高校学習委員会から承認を受けました。また、アリゾナ州立大学は高等教育機関のカーネギー分類から2012年に3億85万ドルを研究費として支出することで非常に活発な研究活動(RU/VH)をする研究大学に分類されました。アリゾナ州は86の研究中心の大学の協力団であり、大学研究協会に任命された会員の一つです。

入学制度（条件付き）

  • 条件付き入学を希望する学生は、以下の方法の一つを選択して英語力を証明しなければなりません。 a）AECP（アメリカの歴史と文化プログラム）で適切な成績を修め、深化2段階の最高レベルまで到達する必要があります。 b）TOEFLの成績が最低PBT500点、CBT173点、iBT61点以上が必要です。 c）IELTSスコアの平均が6.0以上であり、すべての分野で、少なくとも5.5以上が必要です。 d）PTEが少なくとも53以上である必要があります。

プログラムの説明

  • 授業フォーカス :
    American English and Culture Program(AECP)は1974年から特別にデザインされた英語集中プログラムを提供しています。AECPはアリゾナ州立大学や州立大学に入学を希望する学生達や英語の実力を向上しようとする学生達にとって立派な選択となるはずです。 
     
    授業目標 :
    AEAECPは専門的な英語資格証を取得するための40以上の選択科目を提供しており、6個の専門的な英語資格証オプションは以下の通りです。
    学業的な英語資格証
    アメリカの文化学習の資格証
    ビジネス英語の資格証
    コミュニケーションの資格証
    基礎英語の資格証
    科学と技術の資格証
    AECPはCertificate of Graduationを提供していますが、これはAECPの上級クラスのレベル2を良い成績で終えた学生のみをが取得できます。卒業式は各セッションが終わった後に開催されます。 
     
    カリキュラム :
    AECPプログラムはアリゾナ州立大学に入学を希望する学生達が英語の実力を向上しようとする方々のための物です。AECPカリキュラムは基礎クラスから上級クラスまで計6つのレベルになっています。 1つのセッション(8週)が1レベルを終わらせるための時間であり、フルタイムの学生達(21-24時間)は2つの必須科目と1つあるいは2つの選択科目を受けることができます。必須科目は、スピーキング、リスニング、リーディング、作文の実力を向上するための授業で、毎週18時間を学習することになります。選択科目は30個以上の学科目の中で選ぶことができます。

  • Academic requirements
    First-year students must have a 3.00 grade point average (GPA) (a "B" or better where "A"=4.00) from a secondary school.

    Transfer students must have a minimum 2.50 GPA (a "C+" or better where "A"=4.00) from a college or university. Some ASU programs require a minimum transfer GPA of 3.00, including the W. P. Carey School of Business and Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

    Some ASU programs may have higher admission requirements and may require a minimum ACT or SAT score.

    Must have three years of high school work (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 9–11 grade work. If you have completed high school then ASU needs to see 10–12 grade work).

    Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.

    Competency requirements
    International students who attended four years of high school in the U.S. are required to meet the competency requirements.

    English: four years (composition/literature based).
    Math: four years (algebra I, geometry, algebra II and one course requiring algebra II as a prerequisite).
    Laboratory science: three years total (one year each from any of the following areas are accepted: biology, chemistry, earth science, integrated sciences, and physics) .
    Social science: two years (including one year American history).
    Foreign language: two years (same language).
    Fine arts: one year.
    International students who completed high school outside the U.S. are required to meet the following competency requirements:

    Math: four years (algebra I, geometry, algebra II and one course requiring algebra II as a prerequisite).

    キャンパス内の寮：
    6週間前に開始日をASUキャンパス内の寮（Tempe Campus）に登録する必要があります。入学許可書取得の為航空券を手配しなければなれません。
    空部屋がない場合は、学外の住宅を探す必要があります。寮にはベッド、机、椅子、キャビネット、ワードローブが備わっていますが、ご自身の寝具（タオル、枕、毛布、シーツ）を持参してください。
    また、ASUはアメリカの家族と一緒に滞在しながら、アメリカの文化だけでなく、英語の練習をする機会をホームステイで提供しています。ホームステイのほとんどは、学校から40分以内に位置し、電車、バスや自転車通学することができます。 3つのホームステイ先があります。ホームステイ最良の選択肢であるため人気があります。
    多様なキャンパス外の住宅を見つけることできます。通常、部屋の数は3つあり約1100ドルですが、一人それぞれに350ドル支払い３人で家を共有することができます。

대학교에서 운영하는 어학원이다보니 도서관이나 카페테리아 등 대학 내 시설을 자유롭게 이용할 수 있어서 좋았습니다. 무엇보다 도서관을 이용할 수 있다는 게 좋았고요. 학내 클럽도 원하면 가입해서 어학당 외 친구들도 사귈 수 있다는 것도 큰 장점이었네요. 사막지역이어서 우리나라와는 완전히 다른 기후를 가지고 있습니다. 여름에 습하진 않은데 햇살이 엄청 따가워요. 그 부분만 빼면 경관도 아름답고 즐길거리도 많아서 꽤 훌륭한 곳입니다.

大学で運営する語学学校なので、図書館やカフェテリアなど、大学内の施設を自由に利用することができてよかったです。何よりも図書館を利用できるというのが良かったんです。学内クラブも必要に応じて登録して語学堂のほかの友人も作ることができるというのも大きなメリットでしたね。砂漠地域である韓国とは全く異なる気候を持っています。夏はじめじめしていないが日差しがヒリヒリ痛い。その部分だけ抜けば景観も美しく楽しめる街も多く、かなりすばらしいところです。

在大學裡營運的語言學校中，可以自由地使用圖書館或是咖啡廳所以很好。其中最棒的是可以使用圖書館。如果參加學校社團的話，最大的優點就是可以交到語言學校以外的朋友。因為位於沙漠地區，所以氣候跟韓國完全不一樣。夏天時一點也不潮濕，陽光非常地熾熱。去掉這些，風景很美麗，可以作的事也很多，是個很棒的地方。

知り合いの勧めでこの学校を選びました。
聞いていた通り先生たちはとても親しみ易く、
勉強の相談はもちろん、いつでもどんなことでも気軽に相談に乗ってくれました。
学生達も世界のいろんな国からきた子達が集まっていて、とても多国籍でした。
様々な国の友達が出来てとても楽しかったです。

アクティビティも充実しています。
キャニオンへの旅行、プロスポーツ観戦、美術館やギャラリー訪問など、内容も豊富です。
なのでアクティビティ重視の方にもお勧めだと思います。

そしてアメリカの中でも大きな大学というだけあって、学校周辺も栄えていて、ショッピングモールなどもあるので、
学校終わりに友達と遊びに行ったりもできます。
住んでいて不自由に感じることはまずありません。

あと、大学の中に日本語学科があるので、チャンスがあれば日本語を学ぶ現地の学生達と友達になることも出来ます。
英語を教えてもらう代わりに日本語を教えてあげたり、とても貴重な体験になります。

この1年間はとても充実していて刺激的な毎日でした。
貴重な思い出になりました。
